Dr. Marlene Carson
Dr. Marlene Carson, is a SurTHRIVer, Founder of Rahab’s Hideaway and C.E.O. of The Switch, a National Anti-Trafficking Network created to be a mechanism that empowers a new generation of underground railroad conductors.
While many have a textbook knowledge of the perils faced by victims of human trafficking. Marlene knows from her own personal experience. At age 15 she became one of the tens of thousands who is exploited daily. Through faith in Jesus Christ and sound biblical teaching, Marlene’s misery became a ministry. Her zeal has affected a vision that is unique in its application and effective in its efforts to break the cycle of exploitation, addiction, and poverty.
Marlene is a native and resident of Columbus, Ohio, but her heart for exploited people knows no boundaries. She believes that together, we can become the solution to one of the greatest human rights challenges of our day; and set the survivors on a new “track” to freedom, hope, and restoration.
“I believe in the kingdom come, where all the colors will bleed into one.”

Patch Wetzel is the Founder & President of PatchWorks Ministries, which is the Principal Sponsor for the Lasting Legacy Events. She played the host and emcee for this first-ever Lasting Legacy Conference.
Born in the Philippines, educated and trained in Europe (Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, Crans-Montana, Valais, Switzerland) and a resident of the United States for the past 30 years, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Humanities from The Ohio State University and is currently working on her PhD in Humane Letters with CICA, the Canadian Institute of Chaplain Ambassadors International University and Seminary. CICA is the only institution of its kind who works in partnership with and is accredited by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC).
Having traveled many continents and lived in multiple countries, it is her life passion to study peoples of all backgrounds, creeds, religions and beliefs. As a proud Christian, it always surprised her how many cultures who didn’t profess to know Jesus, let alone acknowledge His Sovereignty as God, had treated her with so much more grace, dignity, hospitality and respect than people who are Jesus followers. She sincerely believes that coming from a place of understanding, education, love, tolerance and kindness is THE KEY in getting people to know who Jesus is; which is our Scripture calling to ministry, in accordance to the Great Commission.
It is her hope that in bringing partnerships with the many organizations, entities and individuals God has placed in her path that we can each make a difference; BE THE DIFFERENCE in an increasingly divisive and vitriolic world. We are EACH called for our respective purposes according to HIS PLAN, long before any of “this” came to be; that unless we each treat each other with kindness, love, respect within environments/spaces where there is no judgment, no competition, no comparison, and/or no expectation, we will continuously focus on the things that divide us instead of the commonalities that unite us.
She sincerely believes that if we each could remember that we were meant to be in this place at this space and time, and if we each work concertedly towards the same goals of love, peace, unity and understanding, we will be able to leave a LASTING LEGACY for the generations to come!
